Limit Your Company's Liability - Start a Vehicle Accident Prevention Program
Motor vehicle crashes cost US employers over $60 billion annually in medical costs, legal expenditure, property damage, and lost productivity. While costs by state and Industry vary, on-the-job crash injuries (fatal and non-fatal) amount to about 6.5 percent of all crash injuries. As a result, the cost of workers’ compensation, Social Security benefits, health and disability insurance continues to rise. An investment in a comprehensive motor vehicle accident prevention program can be a winning approach to reducing these expenses and an effective tool for helping limit your company's liability exposure.
Consider the Savings
According to the National Highway Traffic safety Administration’s report entitled “The Economic Burden of Traffic Crashes on Employers” (request a free copy of the 35-page report on the author's web site: http://www.MobileAwareness.com), the average crash costs an employer $16,500. An employee that has an on-the-job crash resulting in an injury, costs their employer $74,000. In the case of a fatality, costs often go beyond $500,000. Additionally, off-the-job crashes not only affect individual employees, they are costly to the company as well. The aforementioned NHTSA report had this to say about potential financial benefits, “Traffic safety programs are an alternative to reduce health care expenses to employers without reducing the benefits offered to employees. Protecting employees from motor vehicle crash injury can be a profitable investment of time and resources”.
Companies that utilize a crash avoidance program often realize immediate benefits due to the positive return-on-investment (ROI) from a well-designed safety agenda. Consider the findings of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company’s report entitled “Executive Survey of Workplace Safety”. In their study, they found approximately 61 percent of questioned business executives think their companies receive an ROI of $3.00 or more for every $1.00 spent on improving worker safety.
Protecting Valuable Assets
Most well informed employers understand their employees are critical to the success of their business. Showing a commitment to protecting the safety and welfare of valuable workers can go a long way to help improve employee work satisfaction and retention. If your company happens to be a professional transportation or delivery business, the benefit can be even greater. With the extreme shortage of qualified truck drivers, focusing on employee wellbeing can aid in the reduction of a major cost and time encumbranceÂ…truck driver turnover.
“The costs associated with hiring and training new drivers is much better spent on furthering the safety and wellness of our employees’, noted Mark W. Kadlec, VP of Human Resources & Safety at Distribution Technologies, Inc. (www.disttech.com). Headquartered in Newbury, Ohio this bulk transport company is an example of a professional carrier benefiting from a highly focused vehicle safety regimen. Consistently recognized by the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) for operating one of the country's safest fleets, DistTech has received the prestigious NTTC Outstanding Performance Trophy six times. Kadlec furthers, “Documenting procedures, on-going safety training and the use of advanced technology allowed DistTech to improve its safety record for 15 consecutive years. Investing in state of the art driver fatigue monitors and video camera systems to alert our drivers of a potential collision, are just two examples of how we protect our employees, our assets and our customers.”
Establishing an Accident Prevention Program
Depending on the size and scope of your organization, there are several things to think about in order to best accomplish your safety objectives. Obviously, for any program to be a success, it has to be committed to, and supported by company management. Once the commitment is made, consider the following measures as a part of your complete risk reduction plan:
1) Setting Goals, Documenting Procedures
Consider appointing a program manager with the task of overseeing the safety initiatives, including vehicle add-on product evaluation and written company policies specific to vehicle safety. Documenting the goals, as well as the results, should be an integral part of the program. To maximize results, share pertinent information with the employees that drive either a company owned or personal vehicle used for company-related work. You may wish to instigate both an incentive and a disciplinary action program to raise the awareness of everyone involved. Once you begin to realize measurable improvements, consider rewarding individuals for their personal commitment to improving the company’s safety.
For those organizations that do not participate in any formal regulatory compliance, consider drafting key documents of your own, such as a written driver agreement, a vehicle inspection and maintenance handbook, along with an accident reporting and investigation procedure. Utilizing this documented information can help minimize further liability; be sure to amend your company policy as necessary to help eliminate reoccurring incidents.
2) Employing Aftermarket Safety Technology
Currently there are several aftermarket products available to aid drivers in the safe operation of their vehicles, many of which are cost-effective and easy to install on most trucks, vans, SUV’s and cars. While it is beyond the scope of this article to address the broad array of safety solutions available today, you might consider learning more about the following:
a) Sensor Based Obstacle Detection: Backing-up sensors utilizing Doppler radar technology are extremely reliable and impervious to the affects of whether. While these devices can be more costly than the parking aid sonar-based products, they are far superior in performance for safety applications.
b) Camera Based Video Systems: Today's camera technology is extremely effective in giving visibility to blind spots that are often impossible for the driver to see. A common application is to monitor the rear of the vehicle via a color LCD display, helping to prevent reverse backing accidents.
c) Lane Departure Warning (LDW): Often camera based, these devices are most effective when used on highways and long distance driving. If the driver becomes distracted or fatigued, a warning goes off if they begin to drift into another lane.
3) Safety Education & Training
Launching your program with an initial training is an effective way to get a running start. Take the opportunity to impart your company's safety goals, employee expectations and reasons why everyone can benefit through active participation. Employee drivers should receive ongoing training; also consider offering access to an internet based driver-training course. In addition, think about adding vehicle safety content to your company newsletter, furthering education and continuously reminding employees that safety is not a part time job.
Understanding the financial burden associated with motor vehicle crashes makes for a compelling case to take action to reduce the impact. It is a known fact that many traffic crashes are avoidable; investing in a company wide motor vehicle safety program can help save lives and reduce costs, ultimately providing benefits that are hard to ignore.
Baby Cribs Safety Checklist
Congratulations! You’ve got a baby on the way!
Once your baby has arrived, one of the most important parts of your new life together will be getting a good night’s sleep — you in your bed, the baby in a safe and comfortable crib. At first, you may want your newborn to sleep in a bassinet by your bed, making it a little easier for breastfeeding moms, but have a crib ready by the time your baby can roll over.
Your baby will spend more time in the crib than anywhere else, so safety is of utmost importance. What makes a crib safe?
* The bars or slats of the crib railing should be no more than 2-3/8" apart, close enough together to prevent your baby’s head from slipping through or getting stuck. That crib in the attic may be a beautiful antique, but it probably does not meet this safety standard. Secondhand older cribs may also have splinters or lead paint as well as slats that are too far apart.
* Cribs with cutout designs along the rail may look pretty, but your baby’s arm or neck could get stuck in them.
* The crib must be sturdy. Your child will sleep in a crib until it’s time to move into a regular bed between the ages of 2 and 3. When shopping for the crib, give it a good shake to see if it wobbles or rattles.
* Construction materials should be stained or painted hardwoods like maple, ash, beech or oak. The use of inferior woods can potentially weaken or warp the slats. Some metal cribs are also very sturdy and secure. All finish materials must be lead free and non-toxic.
* For safety, the dropsides must be at least 9" above the mattress support when lowered. When the side is raised, the top must be at least 26" above the support at its lowest position. You should have no trouble quietly raising and lowering the side rail easily with one hand, since chances are you’ll have a sleeping baby in your arms.
* Make things a little easier on your back by choosing a crib with an adjustable height mattress. A newborn can rest higher in the crib, while a baby who can sit up needs a lower mattress so he can’t climb out. You can change the height of most mattresses by simply raising or lowering the mattress support.
* Check the hardware on the crib for sharp edges or points or anything else that could hurt your baby.
* The mattress should fit snugly into the crib. If you can fit two fingers between the side of the mattress and the crib, it is too small. Keep an eye on foam mattresses; over time, they may break down at the edges and leave gaps. Check the mattress support to make sure there are safety clips that lock the hangers into their notches.
* Use nonflammable and hypoallergenic bumper padding attached to the inside railings of the crib to cushion all four sides and prevent your baby from sticking an arm or leg through the railings. Securely fasten the bumper pads to the sides of the crib in at least six places. Be sure to remove bumper pads when your baby becomes more active.
* Follow assembly instructions carefully. Periodically tighten all nuts, bolts, and screws and check teething rails for cracks. Check the mattress support hooks regularly.
* Don’t place a crib against a window, near curtains or drapery cords, or near furniture that could help your baby climb out.
* Crib toys need to be removed from the crib when baby is sleeping. And remove mobiles when baby is able to grab at objects.
Federal safety guidelines went into effect in 1973, but only since 1991 do most cribs meet all mandatory safety standards (16CFR part 1508) as set by The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) and the voluntary standards (ASTM F966 and F1169) as set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). The Juvenile Products Manufacturers’ Association (JPMA) certifies cribs that meet the safety standards.

Getting results in the workplace with happy team members
by: Pierre du Plessis
The four components for getting results:
You can only get results or goal achievement by monitoring progress towards those goals. First of all there must be goals for every position to strive for, in support of the overall broad strategies of an organisation. Secondly, persons must be held accountable for reaching those goals and it normally helps to break these goals up into shorter term benchmarks. Thirdly, there must be a system of regular feedback on the progress of achieving those goals, where someone of authority shows interest in the state of affairs. Fourthly, persons must be rewarded according to the degree of performance in achieving these goals.
Very often one of these components is missing, which inevitably leads to failure or partial achievement of goals for a department or organisation. The reasons for failure can be as follows:
Organisation strategies are not clear or absent - lack of direction for all employees
Goals are not clear or absent - persons will tend to develop own goals according to personal and subjective perceptions
Regular monitoring of results is not a requirement through the management levels - nobody seems to be interested in results
Poor regular performance evaluation system or total absence of it - persons will not adjust behaviour to the organisation needs
Equal division of rewards, irrespective of the degree of individual performance in goal achievement - disinterest attitudes in doing well and breeding ground for a culture of prioritising personal interests and benefits above organisation needs
When an organisation excels in applying these four components, the monitoring role by individuals becomes crucial in maintaining good human relations among employees and keeping them positive and motivated.
The components for highly motivated employees:
We can start this off with stating the opposite of the reasons for failure of organisations as mentioned above. Unfortunately these are not the only components for achieving good results, with simultaneous highly motivated employees.
All of us are aware of persons in positions of authority, where it is expected of that person to achieve goals through the performance of other persons. A superior is in daily contact and interaction with subordinates and visa versa. It is in the management role of monitoring or controlling the tasks of subordinates, where relations can quickly turn sour for the worse, for the organisation as well as for the individuals concerned.
Many persons are in positions of authority, overseeing the tasks of subordinates, without ever having been exposed to what factors make up for good human relations, what factors inspire people or how people crave to be treated. Organisations and managers appoint people, without recognising the need for those appointees to be capable of inspiring subordinates. They truly do not realise the important need of proper prior education, in matters of human behaviour and human relations, for any supervisory or managerial position. The poor soul being appointed, without being educated in matters of human relations, soon becomes frustrated and stressed out of all proportions, which in turn can lead to other health related problems. To place the cherry on the cake, a newly promoted manager more often than not, feels so proud and bloated that arrogance tends to armour the person against recognising own personal shortcomings or to lull the person into ignoring it. When this is the case everybody loses. There is no win-win situation.
Here below is the correct sequence of events before appointing anyone in a position of authority:
Proper Training
Proper Exposure to display lessons learned
Monitor progress in application of lessons learned
Mentor of deviations in performance by a mature and knowledgeable person
Evaluate performance
Appoint/promote/reject
The bodies who can take action and rectify this distortion in required skills, are the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive and Top Management.
The necessity for the presence of Management Skills:
Now comes the bigger question: What happens when people are appointed in Supervisory and Managerial positions, but lack the necessary managerial, leadership and ethical competencies? We in South Africa do not have to look too far. The unwise affirmative action policy of the Government, of indiscriminately replacing highly competent whites with incompetent blacks, over the past years since 1994, is now coming to fruit, as evidenced by the many areas and services coming apart at the seams.
I am all for the new South Africa, but not for lower efficiency, lower effectiveness nor lower productivity.
Only 50% of the Defence Force employees report daily for duty, due to sickness or arranging to be off duty.
More than 50% of Police crime files are disappearing before the case can be brought to court.
More than 40 000 Government Officials were identified as illegally receiving social grants.
At local Government level many sewerage systems have started leaking into town streets and rivers due to lack of maintenance.
14 Central Government Ministers have been identified, who did not declare their shares in private enterprise companies as prescribed by law. This is just the tip of the iceberg, as thousands of Government Officials are in the same boat and even awarding their own companies contracts.
The new law on weapons concentrate mainly on more control over legal weapon owners. If the same effort were to be directed towards eradication of illegal possession of firearms, a bigger dent in the high crime levels would ensue.
Experts predict a shortage of power supply during the coming winter months, due to lack of proper planning for the expansion of power facilities, according to the economic growth rate of demand for power, over many years.
The land restitution policy, where ownership of certain farm land is reverting to previous disadvantaged persons, is a total failure, due to many shortcomings. Rumour has it that the Limpopo Province Government is contemplating to take 71 farms back from the new black owners, under whose management these once highly productive farms, have now deteriorated to zero production.
The one-sided new laws on pharmacies, decided upon by incompetent Government Officials, are threatening to compel many businesses to close down.
Over R300 million in donations from overseas, for reconstruction and development, had to be handed back to the donors, because the responsible employees lacked the competence to utilise these funds, in the midst of dire need for housing and other amenities for the thousands of poor and jobless people. Can you believe this shameful conduct?
Every year the Minister of Finance allocates ample funds to the various departments and bodies for various purposes and projects, which are very seldom fully utilised, also due to lack of skills. A good portion, however, disappears before it can be used, due to the high level of corruption.
The Department of Statistics is after 12 years still not able to produce trustworthy figures.
Many Officials in the Department of Home Affairs were found guilty of illegally issuing identification documents to foreigners in fraudulent ways. This is still happening. The same goes for issuing of driver licences at local Government level.
Many township riots have erupted over the past year with the associated anger mainly directed at non-delivery of services. If this is correctly dissected, it boils down to the incompetencies of Officials, who remain more interested in their high salaries than in any type of job performance.
Standards in schools were lowered to boost more passes.
Health standards in Provincial hospitals are lower than ever before.
Road maintenance is deteriorating each year and road construction is far behind schedule. The same applies to the provision of houses for the poor.
Flush type toilets are planned for each household, but no plans are in place for getting the extra needed water resources.
The Government seems to be at loss with the high crime levels and non-performance of police services. With annual murders in the region of 20 000, we surpass the total deaths in a year by far, in the war ridden Irag, Libanon and Gaza combined. In the midst of all this the Commando system was disbanded, which always was the protection force in rural areas. Now there is also evidence that the Police Child Protection Unit will be disbanded. Nobody is saying anything about this abnormal high violent deaths, least of all our President. The statistics are not only about quantity, but also raise serious questions about the depth and degree of barbarism and its roots.
The criminal-minded members of society have lost all respect for the abilities of the authorities.
How low can values and morality be if certain organisations still favour Zuma for president?
Our President, Mr. Thabo Mbeki, recently expressed surprised disbelief that poverty and joblessness have increased since 1994, notwithstanding the findings of two independent scientific studies. It seems he has surrounded himself with advisors, who tell him what he likes to hear instead of the truth.
The Minister of Home Affairs complained in Parliament in May 2006, when her portfolio was under discussion, that her Department was totally out of control on a road to utmost inefficiency and ineffectiveness, due to her six Directors and others below them not having the needed competencies, willpower and dedication.
17 000 Pensioned teachers have been waiting more than six months for their pension payments, due to corruption - employees re-routing the first payments into their own bank accounts.
With so many horrific and barbaric murders every month, it seems we are moving back in time to the old days of "darkest Africa". What message and image do these crimes convey about character, morality and life values? Is this a manifestation of the fundamental values, practices and traditions of the ANC? These criminals are after all, predominantly the ANC voters.
The lesson learned from this analysis is that incompetent employees can have a devastating and lasting effect on any organisation or country, especially if the top echelons are incompetent. Do not get me wrong. It is not because they happen to be black. The support structures in training, education, mentoring and coaching, have not been provided beforehand to the lower levels, as the new found power positions at the top blinded the occupants with arrogance. Competencies in line with job requirements, have never been a priority. The only priority was to get rid of whites. Of course, the lower levels took their cue from the top with a rippling effect.
South Africa, in its present state of affairs, is a showcase example of expertise in mismanagement. The Government is by far not in control of the country, nor the ANC, Police or Defence Force; only crime is King, because the criminal-minded members of society have lost all respect for the abilities of the authorities.

Safety Precautions While Traveling
There are many important features of vacation. It is not an option but a compulsory measure that has to be taken while traveling anywhere whether it is your own country or whether it is abroad.
To have an uninterrupted vacation you need to keep a count of the things you should be careful of. Especially children being sensitive you have to take extra care when it comes to children.
Some of the things you should be careful of is knowing what can causes allergic reactions, taking extra care if you have undergone any operation, making sure you carry your medicines as prescribed by your doctor.
Having a First Aid tool kit is a must have on a trip or a vacation, Some of the medications are prescribed skin creams, pills, bandages, wound cleansing lotion, lots of Cotton, carrying hot water bottle, carrying your own medicines that are prescribed by Doctor, if at all you get allergic to anything, you know what to do!
Now, a First Aid tool kit is not the only precaution that you need to take, wherever you go, you have to be very watchful and protective of your family, avoid places that are vulnerable and can make you a victim. Keep your valuables intact on you, so that you are not a victim of robbery. Make sure that you do carry something to protect yourself from maniacs. And one of the recommendations will be eye spray. Eye spray will not harm the person completely but at least make him or her aware that you can defend yourself.
When traveling with children, children get excited when going on vacation so make sure that they do not put themselves in vulnerable situations where it would be hard for them to come out of.
Avoid legal difficulties; you should follow the law no matter what. There are families who have gone on vacations and have broken the law of where ever they have been and had to pay a great deal for it. So make sure you follow the legalities of where ever you are.
Terrorism is spoken of nowadays, make sure that you stick to your own family and just be friends with those people in the vacation that you feel you are confident of.
Terrorism is spreading all over the world, so it does not mean that you can’t be safe in your country if you choose to go on a vacation at home. Be wise and you should have a very good judgment about recognizing people that you are around while vacationing. In all following some of these guidelines have the best vacation ever!

How To Protect Your Computer From Viruses And Spyware
I have been around computers for years. I even teach on Introduction to Computers class at a four-year university. Despite my knowledge of computers, I was not immune to the problems that viruses^ and spyware can do to a computer. My computer was attacked and it was so bad I ended up replacing my hard drive. Does that sound scary to you? If so, I apologize. At the same time, I hope that my experience can benefit you.
While many computer users are familiar with the term virus, not as many understand the term spyware. Simply put, spyware is software that performs certain behaviors such as advertising, collecting personal information, or changing the configuration of your computer, generally without your premission. Here are a few things that can happen if you get spyware on your computer.
* Pop-up advertisements will appear even when you are not on the internet.
* Your home page (the page that comes up when you first open your internet browser) changes all of sudden and you don't know why.
* A new toolbar appears and you can't seem to get rid of it.
* Your computer takes longer than usual to complete certain tasks.
* Your computer crashes a lot when it never used to.
Just reading the above list should be enough to encourage you to read on and do what you can to prevent viruses and spyware from attacking your computer. Below is a list I compiled of things you can do to protect yourself from viruses and/or spyware. Following these suggestions doesn't mean you will never have a problem. However, it should lessen the chance of it happening.
1. Everyone should have good anti-virus software on their computer. This is especially true it you use the internet. I use PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 on my computer. Before that I used Norton's Internet Security. Both are good but only work well if used properly. If you are a beginner computer user, I would recommend Norton over PC-cillin. However, PC-cillin is a good program for those who are more advanced computer users. It requires a little more patience to set up and a better understanding of computers than Norton's does.
2. While it is nice to have Internet Security software, one must make sure it is turned on and that it is updated weekly. New viruses are being created daily and if you don't update your anti-virus software weekly your computer is open to attack by new viruses.
3. Make sure you have a good firewall and that it is turned on. A firewall helps protect your computer from outside attacks. Again, a good Internet Security program such as Norton's and PC-cillin come with a firewall. However, remember they only work if they are turned on.
4. I use two free programs in addition to PC-cillin to give me a little extra protection from spyware. I run these programs once a week to ensure that my computer is free from spyware. The two programs I use are:
SpyBot - Search and Destroy
Spyware Blaster
Both these programs can be downloaded for free at www.downloads.com
5. I use a free program that checks for advertising trackers and lets me get rid of them. You can download a copy of this program at www.downloads.com. The name of this program is:
Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal
There are a few other things I would like to mention concerning viruses and protecting yourself from them.
a. When you receive an email from someone you don't know and it has an attachment. Never open the attachment. Often times these attachments can have viruses in them.
b. If you receive an email from someone you know with an attachment and you weren't expecting it, don't open the attachment. Contact them first to make sure they sent it. Sometimes a virus can send out emails without the person even knowing.
c. Be careful when you are downloading software or programs off the internet. Often spyware software will install during the installation of other software you want such as a music or video file. Whenever you are installing something on your computer, make sure you carefully read all disclosures, including the license agreement and privacy statement. Sometimes the inclusion of unwanted software in a given software installation is documented, but it may appear at the end of a license agreement or privacy statement.
d. Be careful when you use a file from someone else's computer. If someone gives you a disk, even if it is your best friend, run a virus scan on the disk before opening any files. It is possible for the file to have a virus without the person knowing about it.
I hope these tips will prove helpful to you. If you have good protection and exercise caution you have a much better chance of getting through your computer life without the headaches of viruses and spyware. However, remember there is no guarantee that it will never happen to you.
^A computer virus is a program that invades your computer system, hides there, and replicates itself. Viruses spread when you launch an infected application or start up your computer from a disk that has infected system files."

Alternative vs. Mass Tourism
More and more people are breaking away from traditional package holidays (usually limited to transportation, accommodation and some local commercialized attractions), treating local people and their native area with responsibility, looking after the environment, searching for virgin nature and unsophisticated way of life. A vacation type, which most forms of the alternative tourism offer.
The impact of the mass tourism is quite popular, especially upon the environment. Besides, very limited share of money spent on holidays actually get to the local people, which regional and native cultural attractions we all enjoy. These are the people who actually save the traditions and habits of their local areas. The people, who allow us to catch a glimpse of their cultural heritage; these who have preserved and take care of the un-spoiled nature for all of us.
Maybe many of the people are used to think that big tour operators and large travel consortiums have a responsibility to preserve that local cultural heritage and environment. But the part of their great profits spent for this is not exactly known. But if one do not look a bit further in future and see that this way, one day there would not be many remaining tourist resources and gains will start descending fast. Unfortunately, this will affect no one so greatly, but the locals.
After all, alternative tourism forms include small groups of people, who surely do not harm the environment that much. Besides, if not familiar, as I am sure most of them are, one of the aims of the alternative tourism forms is to acknowledge how to preserve the environment and local traditions and culture. Actually, some alternative forms are meant to enable man to appreciate the greatness of nature, a great such example is the eco-tourism.
However, it is totally different situation in some big resorts with thousands of people running around and hundreds of hotels keeping the beautiful nature views away from your sight. Of course, there are many ways of entertainment in view of the tourists animation, nightlife, and other. But is it not exactly that what we are running from? Could great nightlife and various animations with the difference they are at different place, compare with the variety of all alternative forms; to compare with the naked nature and cultural heritage? So in my point of view except for the slightly higher prices in alternative tourism (due to the fact they usually include much smaller groups), it seems it that the alternative tourism is the better choice.

7 Innovative Ways to Save Your Marriage
Are you in a tough spot in your marriage right now? Every relationship has its problems and its rough patches, but that doesn’t mean that you need to give up when the going gets tough. For many couples, they can actually work through their problems to create a stronger relationship. Sometimes the hard times are actually learning lessons in disguise. Here are just a few tips for getting started on the right foot.
Listen
There’s nothing more damaging to a relationship than a partner that doesn’t take the time to listen. In fact, that fact alone might be the thing that has led to the feelings of dissatisfaction with a marriage. In order to be a good partner (on either end), you need to be able to remain quiet and talk through problems until both partners are satisfied. Be quiet when they are speaking and try to really listen to what they are saying.
Understand
But listening only goes so far when you’re trying to work out problems in you relationship. If you do not really understand where they are coming from, you might be creating more problems. When they are expressing themselves, you want to ask questions when appropriate in order to clarify what they are saying to you. Even if it seems uncomfortable at first, it’s important that you make sure that you understand where they are at and how you might be able to help.
A positive attitude
Why start off a rough patch by thinking that it will never get any better no matter what you do? When you’re trying to work through problems and issues, you will want to make sure that you’re going into it with a positive attitude. You don’t need to be sugary sweet, but you should start to look at your troubles as learning lessons rather than the doom of the relationship. Try to think about happier times when you start to become negative in order to turn your thinking around.
Be present
When a partner isn’t fully in the moment of trying to fix a relationship, the work becomes a one-sided affair. You need to be able to fully be there for your partner when you need to work through tough times. This might mean that you need to take a few days off work or devote certain times to discussing ways to fix your relationship. These times should be uninterrupted by work obligations or time commitments so that neither person feels rushed or distracted.
Stay calm
While you might be upset about the way that things have turned out, you need to remember that being calm is the best way to see things more clearly. Try lowering your voice when you talk – it automatically lowers your blood pressure and your anger. Try to take a few deep breaths before you say anything – this will help you to be clear and calm as you speak. Many people perceive becoming flustered or upset as being angry, and that can lead to a poor environment for working through issues.
Make plans
One of the best ways to help save your marriage is to start creating long term plans with your partner. While this might not seem like the best idea at the time, it will create the idea that you are both going to make it through the rough patch that you have stumbled upon – somehow. Try to make plans for vacations or other far in the future appointments. This will create a little less pressure because the future isn’t so vague and unable to be seen in the dark that you are experiencing at the time.
Take time away
While you don’t have to become legally separated to do this, taking time away from each other is one of the best ways to stop a marriage from becoming a divorced marriage. When you take time away from each other, you allow yourself to have a new perspective on the events that are happening. And this can allow you to see new solutions as well as new ideas for how to handle the problems that you may be having. Even if it’s just a night or a few hours, taking time to step back from an issue can help it become easier to resolve.

Driveway safety is a very demanding responsibility for parents or guardians of young children. Even when closely watching your children, it is difficult to react quickly enough when they dart out from your driveway into the street either chasing a ball or riding a toy. Some of the most devastating motor vehicle accidents involving children occur in the driveway.
Driveway safety statistics show that children who do survive sustain severe and permanent physical and brain injuries. In fact, the driveway is the second greatest killer of young children around the home.
Driveway injuries can be prevented by:
• Having a greater awareness of the danger
• Following simple safety rules
• Being more vigilance as parents
Driveway safety is comprised of two categories
Preventing your child from:
• Being run over by a car backing out of the driveway
• Running into the street while playing in the yard
Prevent your child from being run over in the driveway
One third of children under the age of six, who are involved in motor vehicle accidents, were killed in yards, parking lots and driveways. One and two year olds are most likely to be killed or injured in home driveways. The vehicle is usually moving slowly and is often being driven by a parent, relative or friend.
A slow moving vehicle backing down a driveway can trap a child, and cause fatal crushing injuries. Children who do survive often suffer severe long-term injuries.
Small children, particularly toddlers, can be impossible to see if they are directly behind a car. Most drivers are aware of their car’s ‘blind spots,’ and studies show that there is a large “blind spot” behind most cars, particularly when driving in reverse. Even cars with parking sensors or a video camera may not notice a small child until it is too late to stop.
The greatest number of fatal driveway accidents occur on weekdays as opposed to weekends. They usually occur between 8:00am and 10:00am in the morning, and between 4:00pm and 6:00pm in the afternoon. Additionally, most of these accidents occur in good weather and bright conditions.
Safety Steps
• Always watch your children and never leave them alone while playing in the yard - especially near parked or moving vehicles
• Ensure their safety by holding their hands or keeping them close to you
• If you are home alone and need to move your vehicle, securely put your child in the car while you move it
• Use security doors, fencing or gates for areas that exit your home to make access to the driveway difficult for young children
• Walk around your vehicle before leaving an area where children have been playing
• Never allow your unsupervised child use your driveway as a place to play
• Create an alternative safe play area for your children
Protecting Your Children from Running into the Street
To deal with this driveway safety problem, many parents use their car to block the driveway or erect a temporary barrier out of wood or whatever else may be lying around the garage. Many of these barriers are not sturdy and children on riding toys can be injured if they collide with the barrier or car.
A better driveway safety solution is called a driveway safety net. It extends across the bottom of your driveway. It is a low-cost, easy-to use portable mesh barrier that acts as a deterrent by preventing children and toys from leaving the driveway and entering the street.
It also acts as a visual barrier to deter automobiles from entering the driveway where children are playing. This is especially important when cars parked on the street next to your driveway can impair a driver’s vision.
Nothing can replace parental supervision as the primary solution to child safety. Proactively watching our children can be a challenge, however it is better to meet the challenge than to suffer the consequences.
Safety Training: A Must for Every Industry
safety Training Programs have now become the integral part of most of the industries. Almost in every type of industry or corporate office, one can see the posters which remind their employees about the safe work. Companies are using the bulletins boards outside their industries or mills which can depict the safe operation of the workplace. There are different parts of the effective and mandatory safety programs. Each company must have a supervisor who should make sure that all the employees of the company in the healthy state. This article explains some of the components which are essential for the safety training program.
Should have an organized plan in written form: All the companies should keep one thing in mind that time management is the biggest aspect for complete execution and implementation of any kind of plan. And it is impossible to implement a plan if all the things are not present in the written form. There are different safety plans which can be used as the initiative plan. Companies should make a choice of the plan according to their needs. Each and every description should be spelled out in the plan.
Warning Signs and the Posting Labels: If something hazardous is associated with the particular machine or a job, then it is always good to remind the employees and other workers with the help of signs, labels, posters and postings. Changing or rotating the posters and signs is always considered to be a good idea so that workers should always have a watch on these signs and labels.
Sessions for Onsite Team: A different kind of short and informal training should be given to the people who are spending most of their time outside the office. For example, in case of sales team, each and every member of the sales team should be aware of the operations of the lifts, fire extinguishers and other on-road safety precautions. So, beside the sales training program, sales team must also be acquainted with safety training and the best thing is to keep changing the training programs in order to keep them better.

Workplace Retaliation – Are You Experiencing It?
Because of this, employers should be more cautious in how they treat their employees who have filed charges against them or are posting queries about their salary and work time.
Workers who have taken legal action against their employers would often find themselves the subject of vicious employment retaliation. Following any legal action or demand upon the employer, you may want to take note of any hostility or demotion that you may experience which is a form of retaliation.
• Whistle blowing -The word "whistle blower" is coined to identify the action of the employee who has exposed the company's secrets and fraudulent acts against the government or any other entities.
• Discrimination - Workers who have filed discrimination charges against his employer or his co-workers may experience hostility in their workplace. An employee cannot be discriminated for his race, age, sex, and other status which differs from others.
• Sexual harassment - In some companies, supervisors and employers are used to getting what they want from their employees by offering them raises and promotions. It is, however, unlawful to have a worker agree to engage in sexual activities in exchange for a better job position or to retain their current jobs.
• Injured worker - Some employees wrongfully turn down Worker's Compensation claims of employees who have been injured from a job-related accident. Once these workers file a claim or an appeal, they can experience retaliation for them to withdraw their rightful claims to compensation.
• Overtime pays, wages, and breaks - Once an employee discovers the unfair practice of his employer regarding wages and breaks, he should file suit which would protect him from the negative reaction of his employee.
Complainants may or may not be directly affected by the defendant's action. Even a person who is not subjected to discrimination or sexual harassment can file a complaint, and possibly retaliated, if the deed is affecting his job performance.
Everyone has the right to file a case if they feel that their employment rights are being violated. So in turn, employers or co-workers must never retaliate against anyone for filing a complaint against them or the company.
They must own up to the mistakes they've done and be ready to face the consequences for their actions to avoid facing heavier punishment for retaliating against the complainant.
Legal Assistance
For workers who have been subject to hostility and experienced other irregularities in their workplace, they must immediately seek the assistance of employment lawyers who can discuss their options and possible negotiations with the other party.
These experts can help in presenting your case in high courts and make sure that the illicit activities of the defendant are exposed. They are capable of proving that their clients are entitled to receive back pay and other compensation for the expenses they've paid.
Our skilled employment lawyers can help you pursue discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims against your employer. Log on to our website and dial our toll free number for legal assistance.

Why Students Should Wear Uniform To School?
In my opinion, I think students should wear uniform to schools, let's take a look at some of the reasons why students should wear uniform to school.
a) School uniforms save children and their parents of time consuming, troublesome idea of picking out a set of clothes every day. During the rushing morning hours before school, pick out the ideal set of clothes, especially for the girls, can spend a lot of time.
b) School uniforms make everything easier and simple for the school authorities to recognize students belonging to their school.
c) School uniforms also save the students from discussing who has a better sense of fashion trends; it's unfair for poor students. When they don't have to spend time discussing what to wear and how to wear like a fashionista, they can devote more time to learn in schools.
d) School uniforms also save parents a lot of money as they don't have to buy casual clothes for every day plus weekends, sports and club activities. The constant demand for new clothes can be very stressful for parents.
e) School uniforms can instill sense of discipline. The uniform is an attire of high standing one, seen as being the complete visual of discipline.
f) School uniforms promote more safety in school, outsiders are easily identifiable, and this naturally reduces incidents of violence. Students come to school without worrying about personal safety.
With all the advantages of wearing school uniforms, I can conclude that students should wear uniforms to comply with rules and equality. Students wearing a uniform all their educational years will go without saying, just like wearing formal wear, tie and jacket to offices.

Tis The Season To Save $$$!
Just one of the many Benefits of Tankless Water Heaters
Would you like to save up to 50% on your next water heating bill and have an endless supply of hot water?
ON-DEMAND, INSTANTANEOUS HOT WATER WITH TANKLESS WATER HEATERS
With tankless water heaters you can enjoy an endless supply of instantaneous, on-demand hot water 24 hours a day. Water is instantly heated as it flows through the tankless water heater but only for the time you are using it. When the hot water tap is turned off it closes immediately. Conventional tank water heaters operate differently in that they will heat water temperatures in the tank to a preferred temperature setting despite if you are using the water or not. The temperature is typically much higher in a tank than anyone could tolerate because cold water is added to the hot water, resulting in standby losses.
SAVE SPACE with COMPACT DESIGN
Another benefit of tankless water heaters is you will no longer need an extra room to house your bulky conventional tank heater. Tankless water heaters are about the size of a phone book and can be hung on the wall or installed under sinks or placed in closets.
SAVE ENERGY – SAVE $’s - save the environment
Unlike tankless water heaters where the water temperature is controlled with a dial, conventional tank water heaters are typically set between 120۫ - 140۫ F or 50۫ - 60۫ C. While this is much too hot for people to use, it is necessary to overheat the water in order to have a sufficient supply of hot water. Cold water is added to the overheated water in order for it to be comfortable. Standby losses are eliminated with tankless water heaters because they provide hot water when needed, without storage.
INCREASED LIFE EXPECTANCY with TANKLESS WATER HEATERS
The life expectancy of tankless water heaters is typically much longer than conventional tank water heaters because they are less subject to corrosion. Tankless water heaters generally last 25-30 years whereas traditional heaters have a life expectancy of only about 10 years. Unfortunately, most tanks, once they have reached the end of this short service life, are destined for the landfill – not exactly an environmentally-friendly or long-term cost-effective solution.
PROTECT YOUR FAMILY
Every year in North America there are about 4,000 injuries related to incidences where people have been scalded by overheated water in conventional tank water heaters. Keep you and your family safe using tankless water heaters.
Legionnaire’s bacteria are found in virtually every buildings water supply. Legionnaire’s disease is a type of pneumonia that affects the lungs and affects thousands in the U.S. alone every year. The bacteria only become potentially lethal when water sits for extended periods of time at higher temperatures. Unfortunately conventional tank water heaters have the conditions necessary for this disease to flourish. By switching to tankless water heaters it will eliminate the conditions that breed this disease are eliminated because the water is only heated at the moment of use. In tankless water heaters the water in the pipes cools down when water is not being used eliminating any potential for Legionnaire’s disease. This is yet another benefit of tankless water heaters.
