Benefits of Organic Clothing for Children

Over the past decade, there has been a lot of weight attached to the word "organic." This extends to foods, health and beauty products such as soaps, and to your clothes. But what many people do not understand is that while it is generally understood that organic foods and health products do have benefits since we consume food and apply beauty products directly on our skin and can be absorbed, many do not realize the serious benefits of clothing made from organic fibers especially for children.

First, it is important to note what makes organic clothing well, organic. According to the National Organic Standards board, "Organic agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil

biological activity. It is based on the minimal use of off farm inputs and on management practices that restore maintain and enhance ecological harmony." Anything that is "certified organic" has met very strict guidelines set forth by The National Organic Standards Board. Every step in the production of the organic materials and to the production of the final product must meet this standards and it is these standards that help protect the environment and your children from the toxic chemicals that conventionally grown cotton uses in its production.

If think this is a huge investment in money, time, and energy, it is. But the question you may be asking yourself is "Why would manufacturers produce organic products? It hardly seems worth it." The answer is consumer demand. Consumers want organic products for

themselves as well as for their children for the sake of their health. The environment usually takes a back seat as a driving force in the wants and needs of consumers but the environment does benefit as well.

With plenty of information readily available, the light shined on farming practices and the use of pesticides and carcinogens in the production of cotton has caused millions to think twice about their consumption habits and the effect their habits have on their health and the environment. For example, cotton fields comprise of roughly 2.4 percent of all cultivated land but it uses 25 percent of the world's pesticides and 10 percent of the world's insecticides. This startling ratio can be broken down to a more tangible example. One pair of jeans and one t-shirt made from conventionally grown cotton used one pound of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. The environmental effects aside, these poisons are still on the garments that you put on your children.

In fact, per Johnson & Johnson, "A baby's skin is thinner, more fragile and less oily than an adult's. A baby's skin also produces less melanin, the substance that helps protect against sunburn. It's less resistant to bacteria and harmful substances in the environment, especially if it's irritated. Babies also sweat less efficiently than the rest of us, so it's harder for them to maintain their inner body temperature." The risk is much greater for your children to have health issues related to these toxic chemicals that adults.

You do not have to be an environmentalist to see the benefits of organic clothing but you can also see it in your child's health. With so many pollutants we put into our environment and choosing to go with organic clothing is an easy way to contribute to the reversal of this detrimental effect.

As responsible parents and just responsible citizens of our planet, we all should ensure our children grow up in a healthy, beautiful environment. This is why Fuzzy Green Monster was established. It is our goal to provide your children with eco-friendly apparel that is fashion-forward yet environmentally sound. There is not reason you should sacrifice style and comfort for sustainability and we at Fuzzy Green Monster strive to prove that every day with every piece.

What to Do if You Have Smokers in Your Building

Renters in apartment dwellings can get irritated by other tenants who enjoy cigarettes. Another occupant's smoke can creep into your residence through an open window or the air conditioning system. Unfortunately, until the rental lease agreement makes it a requirement for the property manager to stop such happenings, there is currently very little that is possible to do with regards to California law. Local laws may change soon, but that doesn't assist those being put off by by smoke currently.

Even though a few cases have been submitted in California against landlords or other renters due to the sharing of secondhand smoke, the legal answers are still unknown. Results submitted by the California E.P.A. (Environmental Protection Agency) that connect someone else's smoking to a variety of diseases, which include brain damage and pregnancy complications, may affect a law's perspective of this situation, but that is yet to become clear. If you happen to be a renter thinking about legal action against a owner or renter for subjecting you to his second hand smoke, due to the newness of the situation, you may need to contact an attorney.

Renters Rights Against Their Property Management Company

Even though there is no law that prohibits smoking in private domiciles, all California property managers owe a diversity of responsibilities to their renters, to include: The implied warranty of habitability and the implied covenant of quiet peacefulness.

With regards to the implied warranty of habitability, a part of every single one of California rental lease agreements, a owner makes certain that the apartment are and will remain livable. Livability is usually discovered by the owner's obedience with specific code obligations, such as providing required heating and ventilation.

But, California judges have not determined that code obedience is the only deciding factor of whether a break has happened. That way, it is conceivable that, when under specific situations, the judge might rule that a renter's openness to secondhand smoke breaches the warranty of livability.

The implied covenant of quiet peacefulness champions the renter's use and peacefulness of the apartment for the reasons outlined by the rental lease agreement. The owner can breach the implied covenant of quiet enjoyment by doing something or failing to do something, such as failing to cease other renters from creating too much noise. The question the judge would ask is whether the other tenants smoking greatly affects the renters ability to enjoy of a specific part of the apartment. It is unknown how a California judge would rule on this situation.

In the rest of the U.S., a few judges have permitted lawsuits to stand when a occupant's smoking is severe enough, or made the owner to extend to the renter a lessening in rent due to the smoke. But, it is unknown whether a owner would be responsible for the relocation costs of a renter who decided to discontinue a renal lease agreement because of secondhand smoke problems. Due to the fact that these outcomes were made by an out-of-state judges, the rulings are not applicable in California and it is unclear how California judges would rule on the same evidence.

Renters Rights Against Their Neighbors

In California, a renter now has little if any legal rights opposing another tenant for exposing them secondhand smoke. There is no legality that prohibits smoking in private domiciles, like the law that prohibits smoking at work. That way, the tenant who smokes has not violated the law by smoking in her apartment.

A occupant's smoking might not reach the legal requirement for a "nuisance" as determined by the California judges. Even though California law outlines a nuisance as that which is dangerous to a person's wel-being, . . . Or is not decent or irritating to the senses, . . . So as to meddle with the peaceful happiness of life or property," judges also make it a requirement to that a plaintiff give proof that the action is both "substantial" and "unreasonable."

Going by the present California case laws, a occupant's smoking might not be viewed as either substantial or unreasonable, but it depends on the consistency, length of time and degree of exposure. A judge might determine the secondhand smoke challenges as just the renter's inability to live together in the same building.

Rights of Physically Challenged Occupants

Renters with specific physiological disabilities might have other legal answers at their disposal to stop drifting smoke from coming into their domiciles. Under state and local law, people with limitations are enabled with feasible quarters and/or changes of rules from their property managers to make sure that commensurate availability to and happiness of their living space.

To certify for these exceptions, the renter has to qualify for the legal explanation of "handicapped" or "disabled," meaning that their circumstance "limits" (under California law) or greatly limits" (under federal law) a substantial life ability."

Someone with a genuine lung situation may be considerably limited in her breathing. If a renter is "handicapped" or "disabled" according to the legal definition, and openness to secondhand smoke is stopping the renter from appreciating the property, the law makes it a requirement for a feasible living space. The owner might be made to stop smoking in joint areas of the property, if that is the origination of the smoke, or let the renter move to an alternate apartment, further from straying smoke. Rather, the renter might be able to discontinue his/her rental lease agreement without being penalized.

What Can a Property Owner Do to Halt Such Problems?

To not run into challenges caused by renter's smoking, property managers in California might:

Start a smoke-free rule by not allowing new occupants from lighting up;

Establish non-smoking parts of properties; or

Not allow smoking in all joint areas, such as stairs or garages.

Conclusion

If a renter in a property is put off by occupant's smoking, the legal answers are unclear. Property owners have certain responsibilities to renters (implied warranty of habitability and implied covenant of quiet enjoyment). These owner-renter law guidelines may offer some reprieve for renters depending on the seriousness and length of the openness to secondhand smoke. Due to the fact that this is a recently discovered part of the law, it is unknown how a California judge would decide. If a renter is physically challenged she might have other legal answers under state and local anti-discrimination laws.

Rather, the apartment manager is allowed to stop smoking in an apartment. Or a local government might establish an law putting limits on smoking in joint areas or stating that property owners have the ability to create areas of the property smoke-free.

So, make positive you are clear as best you are able the parts of the building where smokers are hanging out before you agree to your rental lease agreement.

Solar Water Heating System To Grow at 23% CAGR

Solar water heating system (SWHS) is used to heat water for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes. The gross potential for solar water heating system in India has been estimated to be 140 Million sq. m. of collector area. According to our research report “Indian Solar Energy Market Outlook 2012”, the number of SWHS is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 23% during 2011-2013 on the back of government support and obligations to support clean energy. Many states (Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, etc.) have started promoting solar water heating systems due to tariffs and incentives given by the government of India.

Our team of experts have found that electricity generation from the sun is a flagship programme of the government because energy demand in India is growing at an annual rate of 8% with the total demand mounting to 92,000 MW over the next 10 years. Moreover, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announced in 2009 that the states would get subsidy on solar power for projects up to 20 MW under Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Power mission. This initiative is an attractive measure for private players to come up with new investment plans for solar projects.

We have also found that India has vast potential for solar cookers. Furthermore, the country is blessed with ample amount of sunshine as many parts receive around 300 to 330 sunny days. The Indian government is taking various steps to promote and enhance the usage of solar cookers in hotels, hostels, government organizations, societies and villages. Solar cookers are also promoted by many NGOs owing to zero emission of harmful gasses.

“Indian Solar Energy Market Outlook 2012” provides valuable information regarding SWHS, solar cookers, photovoltaic, street lighting system, solar home lighting system, solar lanterns, solar power plants and solar photovoltaic pumps. The report also provides recent developments in the solar energy sector including state wise analysis. Our team of experts has covered every aspect of solar energy in order to provide the best consulting to clients.

Tips On Booking A Professional Mobile Disco And DJ

An article providing tips on booking a mobile disc jockey and discotheque. This article may not cover every aspect of what to look out for in booking a DJ but treat it as a guide, and you will not go far wrong!

It's a wonder there isn't millions of DJs in the UK as opposed to thousands!

Think about it.

The sophistication of modern music and the advance of the internet and data storage is so far advanced technology wise, anyone with a laptop or i-pod these days can literally plug and play for a party!

If we compared service providers in the entertainment and leisure industry, probably the most important aspect of ensuring a function is a memorable success is professional entertainment, not helium balloons, Wedding Cakes or confetti!

In fact, the 21st Century Professional Disc Jockey to that of his predecessors can indeed be defined as a Superstar DJ service!

Client demand today expects a premium high quality service all-round that's excellent value for money.

However, due to changes in the music industry, statute and regulation (safety) requirements for the public practice of DJ'ing and of course good (legal) business practice, the modern day professional mobile DJ is by no means a cheap and cheerful alternative to the local band or vocalist.

Of course, without bands the mobile DJ entertainer is 'nothing' yet the diversity of the band is nowhere near to that of a DJ who can access thousands of songs in seconds and present a variety of genres for all tastes!

In fact in many cases, the Mobile DJ may have to be licensed to practice the profession, be registered with the Inland Revenue and produce accounts.

It is increasingly likely that regulation is just off the horizon too and consequently, the shortfalls will undoubtedly be picked up by the client!

Although the overheads and running costs are reflected in the fee quoted for a function, premier DJ entertainment is gradually being brought into line with other supply services; the cheap and cheerful approach is about to change.

The shock and awe from clients when they are quoted £80, £90 and £100+ per hour for bespoke quality entertainment is very common, yet hardly an eyebrow is raised when the quotes for a professional Wedding Cake can be £500+ or the services of an MC is quoted from £350+ for a little over two hours work!

If we take a Wedding Reception as a basic example, it is overlooked that the experienced entertainers day does not start with the playing of the first music track on the night!

Whilst DJs may use equipment that looks and sounds out of this world, they don't just beam-in to the function and start performing.

Explaining an example background, once satisfied that all paperwork is in order (licences held, certification, contract, etc) the DJ entertainer has to prepare which equipment will be used for performance and may have had to specifically set aside requested music for client. In many cases, this can be done prior to the actual day of the booked function.

The transport vehicle will need to be in good (clean) working order before safely loading of equipment and journey to venue.

Taking account of the journey times, distance, fuel costs, road charges and parking, additional costs, etc., the entertainer will usually arrive at the venue in good advance of reception guests in order to safely set-up equipment with clear access (usually confirmed and agreed prior with the client).

This is not always straight forward as other services may have exactly the same window of opportunity (time) to supply and set-up their provisions; venue staff may be unavailable to liaise with whilst the overall access areas and times specified can become a physical and mental assault course of negotiating, manoeuvring and problem solving before one item is unloaded from the entertainers vehicle!

Please note, some venues follow a strict RISK assessment procedure which must be adhered to under the guidelines from the Health and safety Executive.

Once the entertainer has unloaded the gear safely and set-up not only to the satisfaction of the venue management but to health and safety guidelines, the sound-system may be tested before actual function times if permitted by the venue management. Else, the entertainer may only be able to check the whole system just prior to actual commencement (time) of entertainment.

Therefore, the standard and quality of the equipment used needs to be in a well maintained and top quality condition to minimise faults and unreliability. Therefore again, the entertainer is likely to have invested thousands of pounds on proven track-record equipment including flight cases to protect the equipment (some of which can not be hired from the local disco shop!) regularly servicing the equipment, etc, etc.

Satisfied that the equipment for entertainment is set-up ok, the DJ entertainer will need to get ready and present themselves for the booked occasion.

Please note, the difference in time from set-up to actual performance can literally be a number of hours.

Also, it is quite common for DJ entertainers to stay in close proximity / near to the equipment as left unattended may invalidate insurances.

Once the DJ entertainer is ready, they will be expected to perform, calling upon all their experience of reading the crowd and accessing not only their music knowledge but generally ensuring that everything runs smoothly on the night, liaising with venue staff, guests and even photographers, videographer and caterers to name a few!

Another point of note is that DJs can be looked upon as a central figure to co-ordinate a number of tasks and duties on the night because they are well experienced and even calm when everything seems to be at crisis point!

Once everything is done and the function is drawn to a close, the DJ entertainer has to safely pack the equipment away, safely load the vehicle and journey back to home.

In this basic example, the Wedding function was in the evening but the entertainer had to prepare some considerable time before the actual day, start off in the morning in order to set-up in the afternoon.

Given all the above, does it clearly demonstrate that DJ entertainers can be present well-before a function and usually well-afterwards too!?

It is therefore not unreasonable to assume that DJ entertainers can allocate a considerable number of hours on the day for a few hours actual entertainment!

Please note, like everyone else, the entertainer also needs to eat and drink on the day!

Whilst not every entertainer will expect to be included in the guest numbers for allocation of food and drink, clients should not expect hired entertainment to function for long periods of duration without forms of sustenance!

Dehydration and muscle cramp can affect the performance of any entertainer. Likewise, the working conditions (if not already specified in the hire contract) must be duly noted, especially in extremes of temperature and adverse weather conditions.

It has been said that expensive Wedding Cakes do not get people dancing!

Entertainment is by far the biggest contribution to a successful function and will be remembered as the biggest aspect on the day by the attending guests.

You decide!

Because the time suggested for all the arrangements for a bespoke function can literally be anything from several months to even two years in planning, choosing the right entertainment should equally not be rushed or compromised.

Being honest, booking a professional DJ entertainer service for a Wedding or private function can be just as much a headache as booking the right caterer or right venue.

Word of mouth is a great way to hear about the DJs reputation and how a particular function panned out, but what if the function was totally different to what you require? What if the DJ in question is unavailable or not suitable for your function? Who would you book?

People don't generally book DJs everyday and are not as clued-up on the 'requirements', let alone the specifics that one should be looking for when booking a DJ!

So what are the basic points of note?

We will outline some of the essential pointers to look for in booking DJ entertainment to help your special occasion run as smoothly and as memorable as possible.

Most function hire room venues require an entertainer to hold Public Liability Insurance cover.

This indemnifies the venue in the event of an accident claim on the premises should it involve the disco equipment.

More often, the P.L.I. cover requested for an entertainer to hold can be anything from £1m to £5m+.

Please note, the Musicians Union offer £10,000,000 Public Liability cover for their members as a benefit.

The venue may ask the entertainer to present a Portable Appliance Test 'certificate' too. The P.A.T. 'certificate' states that the electronic (disco) equipment used by the entertainer is electrically safe and has been passed. In other words, it is a paper trail to refer to in the event of a claim.

So before a DJ ventures on to a premises, it is important that he or she holds these requirements and can present or forward copies of as requested. *Check with the venue what requirements must be in place before commencement of entertainment.

*Please note, the UK Licensing Act was changed in 2003.

Although Mobile DJs (whether registered with a DJ Association such as DJ Associates, or not) may carry both P.L.I and P.A.T. cover or are in the process of renewal, please ensure your mobile DJ entertainment is covered for statute / local authority licence requirements to avoid disappointment on the night.

Your entertainer should also provide a written confirmation of the booking, either in letter or client contract (booking form).

Usually, the process of returning a signed document (contract) and a reservation fee to secure a booking is the 'accepted norm', but remember to study the Terms and Conditions of hire for balance of payment.

Apart from the pricing details, it should state the nature (type) of function, the date, the times required and contact details for the client and the venue.

The letter or contract may also include entertainer hire terms. Please read all the terms and conditions of hire before committing to any agreement.

Always confirm your booking within the requested time-frame to guarantee a successful booking. Sometimes, late return of a booking and contract form may not be enough.

Some DJ hire terms may only quote initially for performance time and may not include travel time to/from venue, location of venue, setting-up/de-rigging and vehicle loading times for the full final quote.

Additional fees may be charged to the client for parking, standing time and additional function/hire requirements.

Some DJ hire terms may include specific client obligations so again, always read the terms and conditions of hire before committing to any agreement.

It is worth noting that whatever your mobile DJ quotes for your function, please take into consideration some of the points noted in this guide as well as the reputation and experience of the DJ in question.

Good luck!

WEARING A SAFETY VEST IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY

It doesn't often make the news, but each year scores of men and women are injured or killed while working on or near roadways. Construction workers, law enforcement personnel and first responders such as fire fighters and EMS workers are all at risk of blending into their backgrounds and not being seen by motorists. Wearing a reflective safety vest can literally save your life.

In an effort to reduce the number of accidents, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has established standards, ANSI/ISEA 107-2004, for high visibility safety vests and other high visibility clothing. To assure that a safety vest, jacket, etc. is visible both in the bright sun as well as at night, the standard sets the amount of reflective material the garment must have. A high visibility vest is intended to make the wearer more visible, whether worn during the day or at night. Safety vests complying with these standards have quickly become accepted throughout industry as an effective way to protect workers by increasing their visibility. Workers who are within the right-of-way of a Federal-aid highway who are exposed to either traffic, or to construction equipment within the work area are required to wear reflective vests, and possibly additional high visibility safety apparel. Workers who would be required to wear a reflective safety vest include but are not limited to: surveyors, equipment and truck drivers, construction and maintenance crews, inspectors, flaggers.

The ANSI standard has established three classes for high visibility clothing:

CLASS 1 A safety vest in this category is for use where occupational activities: permit full and undivided attention to approaching traffic; provide ample separation between the pedestrian worker and vehicle traffic; permit optimum visibility in backgrounds that are not complex, and where; vehicle and moving equipment speeds do not exceed 25 mph.

Examples of workers who could use a Class 1 safety vest may include: workers retrieving shopping carts from parking areas; workers directing vehicle operators to parking or service locations; workers exposed to warehouse equipment traffic.

CLASS 2 A reflective vest in this category is for use where: greater visibility is desired during bad weather; there are complicated backgrounds; workers are performing tasks that draw their attention away from approaching vehicle traffic; vehicle or moving equipment speeds exceed 25 mph; work activities take place closer to vehicle traffic.

Examples of workers who could use a Class 2 reflective vest may include: roadway construction workers; utility workers; survey crews; school crossing guards; railway workers; forestry workers; parking or toll gate workers; airport baggage & ground crew.

CLASS 3 Class 3 reflective vests are for use where: workers are exposed to high vehicle speeds and/or reduced sight distances; the worker and vehicle operator have high task loads, clearly placing the worker in danger; the worker must be visible through the full range of body motions at a minimum of 390 meters (1,280 feet) and must be identifiable as a person.

Examples of workers who could use Class 3 reflective vests include: roadway construction workers; utility workers; survey crews; flagging crews.

How to Keep Good Workplace Health

The workplace, may it be the office, factory, construction yard or any other place, is more or less a person?s second home. Because we spend so much time in the workplace, about 8 hours a day for most people, health should be a major concern not just for the employee but also the employer. This article takes brings into light the more important issues of workplace health.

At one point or another, the majority of people have had the experience of working. Working in a place that people don't have to risk their lives in, simply increases productivity and efficiency. While there are many many workplace health concerns to tackle, let?s take a look at six concerns, including diets, drugs, smoking, alcohol, sex and worklife balance.

If you?ve ever felt different when eating certain kinds of food, it only means that your body and your health is connected to what you eat, not surprisingly. Since food is so much a part of everyone?s lives, not just employees, it?s crucial that everyone is more educated about it and one extremely effective way to educate concentrated groups together is through the company people work for. All workplace health issues start and end with the employee or the individual, by eating right major problems that could pop up anytime are avoided.

The unfortunate decline of the world economy has caused a lot of stress for everyone. Companies should put into use workplace health programs that address issues of over and abnormal stress levels among the employees, by creating social events and outdoor activities. A life that is all work and no play is after all a very boring and stressful life.

Smoking kills and everyone knows it, but everyone who are smokers are also having a hard time quitting. Workers tend to smoke a lot during work, and employers should make it a point to discourage smoking by imposing fines or penalties on those who do smoke. Companies will not immediately reap the rewards but as employees age in the company so does the health cost savings increase for the company.

Drinking alcohol is known to cleanse the body of impurities, but drinking too much is not something a company should encourage. To maintain workplace health is to make sure items such as alcohol and drugs never enter the workplace in the first place. Employees should be tested regularly for consumption of drugs, as anytime drugs can have a major impact on a person?s ability to work.

Having good employee sexual health has many advantages that can be seen eventually in workplace health. The number one health benefit of sex is the number of calories it burns, for examples sex for thirty minutes can burn 85 calories or even more. Sex is similar to a double edged sword as there is both good side and bad to sex, and it all depends on how people engage in it.

Around 80 percent of the population confesses to be stressed more at work than at any other place. The workplace is the single most important environment as employees spend most of their times here so having good architecture and more importantly having an employee focused design can make big gains in overall employee health. It?s a good thing that companies are now investing heavily on creating working environments that put a big emphasis on workplace health.

Work related health issues is a whole discussion onto itself, but the basics covered here is sufficient for making aware the need for employee and employers to keep an eye out for Workplace safety. Immediate and long term safety of all employees in the workplace can and should be managed by the company. Both the employer and worker gain from good workplace health practices at work and in the workplace.
